Epos Festival for Culture and Arts Films

Celebrating its 15th year, the Epos Festival for Culture and Art Films, founded by Miki Laron and Gidi Avivi in 2009, will take place during the Passover holiday.

The festival's core mission is to explore the intersection of cinema with diverse artistic disciplines. This year’s program will feature a wide array of films, both documentaries and narratives, highlighting artists and various art forms, including dance, visual arts, music, literature, and even the use of cinema as a form of social commentary.

A key highlight of this year's festival is a competitive section dedicated to Israeli short films, offering a rare screening opportunity for local cultural and artistic productions under 30 minutes.

In addition, attendees will have the chance to view four classic Israeli films from the national cinematic heritage, some of which have been unseen for decades, presenting them to a new generation.

The international segment of the festival will showcase around 30 films from across the globe, many of which have garnered awards and recognition at international film festivals, making their Israeli debut at Epos.

This year, a special tribute will be paid to the School of Screen Arts at Sapir College in Sderot, featuring a selection of unique video dance pieces created by its students throughout the years.

The festival's overarching goal is to preserve cultural heritage through cinematic documentation, ensuring that these artistic treasures are accessible to future generations.
